Contemporary dance stands as the inspiration behind Kathy Prest’s studies on the movement of the human body. Fascinated by anatomy, Prest’s work captures the enigmatic body of a dancer caught suspended in a moment of time, “Even when twisted in a complex shape it still expresses the joy in the spirit and beauty of the human figure.”
Sculpting with fabric and other materials, Kathy Prest’s dynamic nude studies serve to distract the eye from the human form alone, accentuating the unbridled energy of the spirit within.

 “I believe there is no better way to train the sculptors’ skills than traditional classical study of the nude model. With this essential knowledge in hand, the figure can then be confidently created and abstracted to an individual style.”

Passion for the human form provides inspiration that is an insatiable and endless source of pleasure and respect for such a wonderful creation. Through her sculpture Prest appeals to the minds and hearts of fellow human beings by freezing movement, transforming it into sensual and tactile sculpture.
